Shout out to a couple of Rockford Heat Coaches who were inducted into the Rockford University Athletics Hall of Fame this past weekend! Coach Lavery coached Coach Malone during that phenomenal year of 2002-2003 and now both are coaches for Rockford Heat and preparing the next generation of athletes for greatness!
Coach Bill Lavery, 8th Grade girls was the Head Coach of the Rockford University 2002-2003 Men’s basketball team that went 24-4 that season and made it to the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tourney! Coach Lavery has gone on to Coach at many different levels from Club, School, CBA Teams such as Quad City Thunder and Rockford Lightning, and Collegiately at Rockford University! Coach Lavery is now on the AAU circuit and instilling the same skills in his own daughter that he coached to others such as; hardwork, teamwork, and success!
Coach Larnell Malone, Girls Varsity Elite Coach, was the Point Guard for the team of 2002-2003 and lead the charge for the 24-4 season! Coach Malone was the floor general that helped instruct, guide, and command that made everyone around him better. Coach Malone is now the Head Coach for the Girls program at East High School and you will find all these traits in his daughter that he has been able to Coach since she could dribble a ball! Not only is Coach Malone instrumental at East but he is critical for helping develop players at the AAU level to make sure they are prepared to play in College!
Great job to both Coaches! Thank you for your time that you are investing into our youth so that hopefully someday they can follow in your footsteps to help lead their collegiate institutions to greatness!
